3 Ways to Turn Back the “Hands” of Time

They say you can always tell a woman’s age by looking at her hands. I don’t know about you, but I’m doing everything humanly possible to keep people guessing… I certainly don’t want to greet someone with a handshake that screams, “Hello there, I’m in the 40+ club!”.

Shriveled-up, mottled hands aren’t only a dead giveaway of your age, but they certainly don’t mesh with your otherwise youthful appearance. If you want to avoid inheriting the hands of your grandmother, take these steps now to protect your skin!

  1. Apply sunblock every day. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. You MUST wear sunblock all year long. If you need a refresher course on how strongly I feel about year-round protection, check out this no “b.s.” blogpost! If you’re not protecting your skin from the damaging (i.e. AGING!) rays of the sun, you might as well be taking literal handfuls of cash and throwing them out the window. Why spend $$$$$ on expensive creams, serums, and treatments if you’re just going to turn around and sabotage your efforts? Part of it could be my own fault… I know sometimes it does seem like I’m a miracle worker, but, really, you needn’t make my job as your aesthetician any more difficult! Let’s work together to get you that glowing skin you sooo deserve!
  2. Once isn’t enough.  If you think it’s enough to only apply sunblock in the morning, it seems you’re still just not getting my point! Unless you’re really failing in the hygiene department, you wash your hands after using the restroom, eating, cooking, cleaning, and what do you think happens to that once-daily sunblock application? It rinses away! Duh! Even if it claims to be water-resistant, your handsoap will break down the product and send it sliding right down the drain. Try to apply as often as you can remember or, at least, every 2-3 hours.
  3. Bring in the big guns. Sunblock- especially if it contains both zinc oxide and titanium dioxide- will do a stellar job at protecting your skin. But, if you’re looking for another line of defense against the aging process, invest in a pair of Sun Gloves like these awesome ones with UPF 50+ that we reviewed from Coolibar.  You won’t have to worry about toting bottles of sunblock in your bag or using a dud bottle that’s lost its effectiveness from baking in your miserably hot car all week long. If you have an office job, take extra care on your commute to and from your destination, but don’t forget that you can also slip them on when golfing, biking or gardening!

Of course, there are products like our Vit-A Serum to help with crepiness and our Lighten Up Clarifying Serum for fading dark spots, but, always remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
